Recently, I have been doing a lot of research on things like eating disorders, abuse, and addiction and how one can lead into the other...and it really hit close to home with me.

I am a survivor of abuse (sexual, physical, and psychological) and anorexia.

I am NOT a victim.

I absolutely refuse to allow anyone, including myself, to label me as a "victim". To me, that implies that the people that wronged me still have some control over me.

It doesn't matter how old you are, what sex you are, or any of that stuff...this can happen to anyone. These things do not acknowledge whether you're a 16 year old girl or a 30 year old man. They don't care how much money you make, what clothes you wear, what grades you make in school...they affect everybody.

But please know that you are not alone.

I totally agree.
It's wrong to label them as victims.
Someone I knew was abused, and when she was refferred to as a victim, she said it made her feel 'belittled', like she would never get over it or recover.
Survivor makes the person sound strong, brave, which they are. To get through anything as awful as this, well the person is a hero really.

It's about time somebody raised awareness about this important point.

I know what you mean..:cling:... you are very right, never a victim, survivor is a much better way to look at it. No matter what you go through (even things not listed on the stamp), no one is ever alone, there is always someone out there who understands or has been through it themselves....Just have to reach out and find them.
wow 0o didnt know u went through all that dude  admirable?? yes i think so.
im not that fond of "OMG IM A BLAHBLAH BLAH TOO" kinda comments, but im a survivor too dude. :highfive: we rock
